Short Film: Criminal
Shooting near Bentonia and Greenwood
SHOOT DATES: August 12-21, 2023 (last day is a night shoot)
Synopsis: Two young siblings, WIILLA, 9, and ZEB, 13, grapple with the sickness of their mother. From a small neighborhood, with limited resources, they ride into another nearby neighborhood, where getting help and having expensive things seems easier. They get the medication and relief their mother needs, for a moment, but risk their freedom and young futures to do so. (This story asks for equal healthcare for everyone, told in a beautiful way).
Seeking ACTORS and NON ACTORS:
CAST ($1500 flat rate)
- WILLLA, Young Girl, Black, 8-12. WILLA is tough and sensitive. She’s street smart and finds it easy to express herself. She loves birds and being outside, and feels passionate about protecting her family, her mother and brother. (Must ride a bicycle in one scene).
- ZEB, Boy, Black, 12-16. ZEB is strong-minded and intelligent. He’s street smart. He behaves tough on the outside, but has a huge heart. He loves his mother and sister, and wants to do everything he can to protect them. (Must ride a bicycle in one scene, shots in swimming pool with lifeguard).
- MOTHER, Black, approx. 30-40. A mother who is physically in pain, she has good days and bad days. She fights to survive for her children.
DAY PLAYERS ($125/day)
- Older WILLA , Young Woman, Black, 22-30.
- Older ZEB, Young Man, Black, 22-30.
- Two Young Boys, Swimmers, 8-16 (any ethnicity).
- Two Police Officers, 25-55 (any ethnicity),
- Pedestrian, Young Man, 22-35, Black.
- The Neighbors, 35-85 (any age, any ethnicity). Looking for unique spirts and characters with a story to tell. Musicians, grandmothers, veterans, open call.
