WHAT: Lazarus: The Awakening (Feature Film)

LAZARUS: THE AWAKENING tells the story of a resurrected vigilante with mysterious powers fighting a ruthless drug empire led by kingpin Demetrius Barkley. As he dismantles the gang’s operations, Lazarus forms an uneasy alliance with Vanessa, a determined journalist, while her brother Alonzo struggles to escape the gang’s grip. With betrayal brewing and the task force closing in, Lazarus must confront his own dark nature to bring justice to a city plagued by corruption and violence.
Morgan Casting is seeking actors for LEAD, SUPPORTING, and DAY PLAYER roles for this project, that begins filming on or around Feb. 24 in Central Mississippi (Ridgeland, Jackson). These roles have been released to agents and on Actors Access, but they are accepting emailed submissions if those methods are not accessible.
LEAD ROLES rate: $300/day + 10% agency fee if represented.
All other roles: $250/day + 10% agency fee if represented.
[VANESSA YOUNG] Female, Black, appearing early 30s. A bold and determined investigative journalist who works as a TV news anchor. LEAD. Works appox. 9 days.
[DEMETRIUS BARKLEY] Male, Black, 40s. About 6ft tall with an athletic build and an air of authority. LEAD. Works approx. 3 days.
[ALONZO YOUNG] Male, Black or Mixed Ethnicity, appearing age 18 to 20. Muscular but slim. MAJOR SUPPORTING. Works approx. 9 days.
[DANNY AVERY] Male, any ethnicity, 25-40. A federal agent working on the special task force against Demetrius’ gang. SUPPORTING. Works approx. 7 days.
[AHMED JAMA/“AJ”] Male, Somali-American (or can pass as), 20s-40. Tall, lean, and resourceful. Ideally, we would love an actor who can give us a bit of an African accent when speaking English. DAY PLAYER
[RACHEL WRIGHT] Female, any ethnicity, 25-40. A federal agent, part of the special task force. DAY PLAYER. Works approx. 7 days.
[TREV SEARS] Male, Black, appearing age 18 with stocky build. DAY PLAYER
[DWIGHT JOHNSON] Male, any ethnicity, 25-40. A seasoned agent on the task force. DAY PLAYER
[WILLIAM CISCO] Male, any ethnicity, 40s-50s. Veteran detective, sharp mind and a gruff demeanor. DAY PLAYER
[TYLER] Male, Black, age 18-20. A low-level gang member. DAY PLAYER
[REMI] Male, any ethnicity, late 20s-30s. Vanessa’s cameraman. DAY PLAYER
[ALISHA PAGE] Female, any ethnicity, late 20s-40. Assistant District Attorney. Professional, no-nonsense, and highly ambitious. DAY PLAYER
[HAWK] Male, Black, 20s. A street-level enforcer in the gang. DAY PLAYER
[JAVI] Male, Latino, appearing mid-teens. Must be 18+. Street-smart but inexperienced in dealing with real danger. DAY PLAYER
[JAYBOY] Male, Black, age 20s-30s. A low-level runner; ambitious, trying to climb the ranks. DAY PLAYER
[BODYGUARD] Male, any ethnicity, any age. Large and imposing. DAY PLAYER
