Millsaps Art & Lecture Series  

Millsaps College Arts & Lecture Series "Reel" Mississippi | Jan. 15, 2019 | 7PM | Gertrude C. Ford Academic Complex, Recital Hall (2nd floor)


This program will showcase and celebrate the history of filmmaking in Mississippi presented by previous and current Mississippi Film Office directors. The Mississippi Film Office was created in 1973, the second film commission in the world. Filming in Mississippi began as early as 1914 and has included projects as varied as This Property is Condemned and Mississippi Masala to O Brother, Where Art Thou?, The Insider, Ballast, My Dog Skip, Cookie’s Fortune and hundreds of other titles that also now include long-running reality-based television series like Bring It! on Lifetime and Home Town on HGTV. Nina Parikh, Director of the Mississippi Film Office, will moderate the discussion with a panel of former Mississippi Film Office directors, Walterine Odom, Senator John Horhn, and Ward Emling.
