OCT. 6-7, 2017 | The Grenada Afterglow Film Festival is a day of music, art, food trucks, and films in historic downtown Grenada, MS. Here’s the full schedule for this weekend:

OLE MISS HOSTS HISPANIC HERITAGE FILM SERIES THIS MONTH!

The University of Mississippi - Ole Miss​ host the Hispanic Heritage Films Series

Beginning September 21st, a series of films will be shown in Spanish with English subtitles. All films will begin at 7:00pm and will be held in the Lamar Hall (Room 131).

The Independent Black Film Collective and Offbeat present "BOYZ N THE HOOD" the third title in their Coming of Age: The African American Experience Fall Film Series on Thursday, Oct. 12th at Offbeat (151 Wesley Ave) in Jackson's Midtown Arts District.

The screening will be followed by post-screening discussion. Door at 6pm, Movie at 6:30pm!

The Mississippi Premiere will be on Thursday, October 19th at Grandview Cinema (Malco) in Madison, Mississippi. Join the producers, director, cast members and crew from the film along with many other friends of the movie and special guests to celebrate this powerful film shot in Mississippi. 

 

Red Carpet opens at 6 pm and the Premiere will be at 7:30 pm.

Remaking Raiders Filmmaking Workshop

REMAKING RAIDERS! A FILMMAKING WORKSHOP 

Eric Zala, director of the most acclaimed fan film ever made, will share a true-local-story Hero’s Journey. There will be a rare public screening “Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation”, followed by the Mississippi premiere of “REMAKING RAIDERS”, in which Eric Zala gives a talk, sharing behind-the-scenes photos and lessons learned from directing their notorious fan film, both as a kid and as an adult. The presentation is followed by a Q-&-A discussion with Zala and the audience, and in the afternoon, a practical, how-to discussion of how of the particulars of DIY filmmaking. The workshop is open to students and parents interested in creating a film.

12pm-12:45pm – Q-&-A session with filmmaker Eric Zala and audience
1pm-1:45pm – Lunch on your own
